It’s hard to tell when Muna Obiekwe stepped into the scene or when he blew up, but this Enugu based actor has definitely become big. Muna is able to play both good and bad guy roles so brilliantly it’s obvious he is here to stay.

Although she lost her husband a few years ago to a terminal disease, Uzokwor was full of joy and gratitude to God for her achievements in the entertainment world. The actress recalled her days as a teacher, broadcaster and owner of a fashion institute before she went into acting by accident or better still, as fate would have it.

No, not really. Last year, I spent most of my time abroad last year. I did quite a bit of travelling. Then again, my studies kept me busy.

Were you shooting movies abroad?

Yes. I did a lot of work abroad.

About your studies, are you not done with school yet?

I will be done this year.

How come it is taking you so much time to get a degree?

It is not so much time, it is just four years.

It is as if you entered the university very late.

No. Just as I finished secondary school, I got admission into the university to read Medicine. But when I got to my second year, I decided to quit and go into acting. My acting career affected my studies, but I didn’t want to leave acting. I felt what was best for me was to quit. Two years later, I went back to school to study Mass Communication.

Out of cage

I came into the movie industry in 2000. I came in on my own after telling myself the honest truth that that is the place I belong. I met a producer, Felix Okoro, who was producing Out of Cage. He talked me into playing a daughter in the movie. It was my first movie and I didn’t have any experience except being a member of the dramatic society of my school. I thank the Almighty God for being very kind to me because I found favour where other very erudite graduates have not succeeded. He has been continually faithful to me . I can’t really point it out. I see his handiwork on daily basis. I see it that when it comes to God being there for you, he doesn’t mince words, he doesn’t act in a small way. He works for you through and through. I say this because I am a beneficiary of God’s favour, I see his handiwork in my life daily. I see his love and favour, in my daily successes, and I am very happy.

She has since featured in over 60 home videos. Some producers have thought that Chiege would not last in the industry when she came in. They had thought she was a flash in the pan that would run out in no time.

But almost six years after, she is still waxing stronger in Nollywood, determined, she says, to prove that she is into acting good.

On Nollywood she says: “We must begin to get people to specialise. I am an advocate for specialisation. Produce only if you are a producer, direct only if you are a director. People should be able to specialise, that way they would become masters of their arts.”

Jim lyke  was born in Gabon Libreville. Jim Iyke is originally from Enugu Agidi village of Anambra state  in Eastern Nigeria.
