Looking for Yoruba Movies?
Yoruba movies are becoming more and more popular as many Nigerians and Yoruba-speaking people are now turning to the internet looking for Yoruba movies. A lot of people watch them, enjoy them because some of the dialogs cannot be translated completely with the same meaning and fun in the drama.
Some of these movies are published with sub-titles (sub-text), so that some of us who are not very fluent in Yoruba can still understand what is going on in the movie. This may also help some of our children born in the Diaspora better pick up the Yoruba language. Even some young Yoruba people, who left Nigeria will also need the under-titles to help them follow the movies, especially if they have been out of Nigeria for a very long time.
These movies range from Drama, to Comedy, to family tragedies, tensions in the Yoruba communities. There are also a lot of movies about business, government contracts, corruption and many other hot topics in Nigeria. Family drama, issues in Yoruba villages, like in many African villages are covered: power struggle between men and women; between the young and the old; between conservatives _ traditionalist and more contemporary people.
Some of Nollywood’s hottest stars are Yoruba, so you may also see some of them in these movies.
